The role differs slightly by Faculty, but the short answer is that Research Coordinators are a liaison between faculty researchers and the Office of Research Services Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ORSIE). We use our expertise to facilitate research opportunities and build capacity for applied research at Durham College. This might include connecting faculty with co-investigators or funding, education about the research process, or more individualized research supports (mentorship, research ethics board applications, etc.)
Who am I?
For the Faculty of Liberal Studies, I am your Research Coordinator. I’m Lynne Kennette and this is the beginning of my 4th year in this role. In my primary role, I teach psychology courses in the Faculty of Liberal Studies: for General Arts and Science, General Education, and for the degree breadth requirement. I started teaching at DC in 2012 after defending my doctoral dissertation in cognitive psychology (psycholinguistics). You can learn more from one of my earlier posts. Or, check out my research/academic publications.
What can I do to help you?
That depends on what you need! Do you have a research idea and just want to talk it out? Do you want help developing a research question? Or just know where to begin? I can help with all of those things. You can schedule a one-on-one meeting with me or drop into my Friday office hours (12:30-1:30pm in my Whereby video chat room). Or perhaps you’ll find some relevant information on one of my previous blogs!
