Dissemination Plan

Congratulations! You’ve submitted your SoTL proposal and are now awaiting the approval. There is one more thing you can start doing while you wait. Before you actually begin your project, you should also consider where/how you will share the results. Some of the journals you’ve cited in your literature review are good starting points- would they be a good fit for your eventual publication? Look within the college (e.g., PD Day, ORSIE Expo (formerly Research Day), Divisional or team meetings, etc.) as well as externally (conferences, journals). The most appropriate format for your dissemination may not be the “traditional” route of conference, then journal. You could also consider a podcast/interview, for example. Consider your target audience and who will benefit from the outcome of your research (administrators, faculty, policy-makers, other stakeholders).

This is also a good time to remind you of the citation management tool I mentioned previously. As a reminder Zotero is a downloadable tool that creates, stores, and shares citations for the articles you used in your research. It can be added to Word and will automatically populate your References and format your in-text citations for you (you select them from the list you’ve added to Zotero). Online resources for Zotero are available through the campus library.
